Fathers Day

Since Sunday is Fathers Day I thought I would dedicate a post to one of the most important people in my life- my dad! I think this holiday was specifically created for dads like mine. When I was 9 I lost my mom to colon cancer so for the past 17 years my dad has raised my older brother and me. There are countless times and an overwhelming number of events in my life that I could honestly say that I just wouldn’t have survived without my dad. He is the perfect “Mr. Mom”. Even though it was hard growing up without a mom he made up for everything as a parent. We never missed out on anything and always had someone there for us. (I didn’t even miss out on girly movies or Lifetime shows, he loves those more than women do!) To this day I still call him a few times a week and I look up to him. I even went into the same profession as him… kind of scary.
Even though I give him a hard time (because he is the goofiest man alive) I would not trade him for anyone. So cheers to my dad, Mike, for being the best dad and Papa Mike. I love you.
Here’s some pictures over the years:

Rain, Rain Go Away!

Wow, I’m SO tired of the rain! It better start getting sunny out, I need a good tan for my bridesmaid dress on June 26th!! Although, KC hasn’t been as bad as Oklahoma… all my friends were flooded in this past Sunday/Monday. So it would just be nice if it stopped raining everywhere!
Cookie’s (my good friend’s nickname) bachelorette party was on Saturday night! It was in Tulsa and soo much fun. We started at her sister’s house with cosmos and opening presents then went to Lou’s Bar. We had the upstairs reserved with our own bartender. It was fabulous. There were lots of blow up doll, penises (cups, straws etc – we aren’t dirty!), and shots. Overall, it was a successful “Last Fling before the Ring” party :) After the bar a few of us had an after party at Cookie’s house. Needless to say it was a rough drive back to KC at 8am on Sunday. I did stop and have McDonalds breakfast with my 3 year old niece and sis-in-law so that made my day. It’s crazy how much energy someone can have at 8am.. and how many times one person can go down one slide.. over and over again. So cute.

Lately, my hubby and I are trying out yummy restaurants in KC. Our favorite so far is CafĂ© Trio. We went with Nick, Amanda, Dane and Sara and fell in love. It’s pretty pricy but amazing! This weekend we have no plans (hooray!) so we are cooking dinner and renting a movie on Friday night and then Saturday we are going on a date night. We are going to try this restaurant in Parkville. (That’s where he proposed!). Parkville is an old, small town that has shops, food, etc. with a park that has walking trails. The restaurant we are trying is a wine restaurant and its right by the park. I went on a walk last night with my girlfriend, Ashley, and she said it’s amazing so we are trying it out.
Thank you Government for our home incentive money! On Saturday we are going to look for a dining room table. Hopefully soon when you walk into our front door you won’t see a bare room! Slowly but surely we are filling up our house. Although, my “to buy” list is still extremely long. It makes it easier that we travel so we aren’t home in our bare house all the time. Eventually it will be full… eventually :)
Hope everyone is having a good week!
